​​Born in Osaka in 1962, Masanori Kamide spent the 1980s as a DJ and musician. Following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, he pivoted to photography, focusing on the transience and raw reality of his surroundings.

His early work is characterized by monochromatic explorations of Tokyo’s nocturnal landscapes and its inhabitants. In 2017, he was awarded the Encouragement Prize at the 23rd Ken Domon Cultural Award. His major monographs include Blues of Monochrome (2016) and 888 Zenya (2021).

Kamide’s recent practice expands from his long-term documentation of the music scene to a series focused on the craftsmanship of professionals, such as automotive mechanics. His gaze remains fixed on the inherent energy of his subjects and the subtle shifts brought by the passage of time.

In 2023, he published S-KEN Punk Old Dicks, which was subsequently acquired for the permanent collection of the Galerie Le Château d’Eau in Toulouse, France. He continues to live and work in Tokyo.

上出 優之利｜カミデマサノリ
 

1962年大阪生まれ。1980年代よりDJ、ミュージシャンとして活動。2011年の東日本大震災を機に、カメラを表現の主軸に据え、

写真家としてのキャリアを開始する。

活動初期より一貫して、東京の夜の街並みとそこに生きる人々をモノクロームで記録。2017年、第23回酒田市土門拳文化賞奨励賞を受賞。

代表作に、都会の喧騒を捉えた『モノクロのブルース』(2016)、変容する街の予兆を刻んだ『888前夜』(2021)がある。

近年は、長年追い続けてきた音楽シーンのポートレートに加え、自動車整備をはじめとするプロフェッショナルの現場を記録する「職人シリーズ」を展開。対象が放つ固有の熱量と、時の経過がもたらす変化を独自の視点で切り取っている。

2023年、写真集『S-KEN Punk Old Dicks』を世界的な出版社SUPER LABOより発表。同作は、フランス最古の写真専門ギャラリーの一つであるトゥールーズの『Galerie Le Château d’Eau』のパーマネントコレクションに収蔵された。
